Fantastic Snowshoes

this Atlas 11 snowshoes (also Atlas Elektra 12) review by Dave

My wife and I bought the men's Atlas 1125 and women's Elektra 1223 snowshoes and are extremely happy with them. The amount of traction available with these 'shoes is phenomenal, and the bindings are extremely easy to use and adjust. Love the heelbar - never had one before and it really does make a difference going up a steep incline. There was a comment about these snowshoes kicking up snow onto your backside - I've noticed this with some people, and it seems to be a personal trait. Some people (like my wife) walk in a way that flips the tail up. It just depends on the person more than the shoe, maybe. We love going off-trail in showshoes, and these really do give us the confidence to go almost anywhere. This winter has brought us a lot of snow in western Mass, and we've been going out almost every day, and they've been stable no matter whether climbing, descending or traversing across skittery ice. We also had an exceptional customer service experience with ORS; we hadn't dealt with them before but now do not hesitate to recommend them. They did right by us.

Awesome Snow Shoes

this Atlas 11 snowshoes review by JR

These snow shoes have excellant bindings for when you're in a hurry to hit the trails. In the past I have had issues with snowshoes turning inward but not with these. They keep me above the snow and move through and over snow easily and the suspension on them is the best I have seen.

Defied All Expectations!

this Atlas 11 snowshoes review by MaartenSFS

Let me start by saying that they arrived within the same week of ordering them and on the same day as the order receipt said they would - so that already gave me a positive feeling. When I saw the box I was surprised how long they were. I really wasn't sure what to expect. Then it snowed! I waited all day for the snow to pile up before running out to the local park to take them for a test run. No one else had been there during the storm and the snow was deep and fresh, the terrain a hilly forest hiking trail. Within five minutes I had figured out the bindings and was on my way. After adjustment they fit tightly over my gaiters and ankle-height hiking shoes and were much more maneuvereable than I thought they would be. Not only could I walk properly in them but I could even run, jump over fallen logs, descend steep hills, and charge right over deep snow drifts! I haven't had a chance to ascend any steep hills but there is no doubt in my mind that they can handle almost anything. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to continue running this winter but was pleasantly surprised that with these I will now be able to. After I took them off next to my car (which took less than a minute) I had to walk around and clear the snow off from the windows and I noticed the difference. I never want to go back to winter hiking with just shoes and gaiters. I also went off-trail with them through some underbrush and the material seems to be very durable and I will not hesitate to use my expensive new toys to get where I want to go. I had no issues with snow kicking up and am glad I didn't buy models with a falling tail, which I think is a design aimed at retirees walking on frozen golf courses. I needed the maneuverability these provide. In conclusion, buying these snowshoes was a risk, as money was tight and I had never tried it before, but well worth the investment. My restless spirit is now at peace, knowing that no matter how harsh the upcoming winter is I will be ready to defy it!

Gets You Where You're Going

this women Atlas Elektra 11 snowshoes review by themudbabe

These snowshoes are pretty good. The tapered back end works much better than the wide men's models I've tried. They are good looking and seem pretty sturdy - but I've only used them twice so far. I was a little disappointed with the short strap on the binding. Sure, I'm a woman but I'm not a child. Because the binding strap is so short, the loop pokes up and I constantly catch my poles in them and the odd branch from brush. The men's loop is long and has a hook to hold it down. All in all, these are good snowshoes. I would recommend them to any woman - just bring a twist tie for that funny loop.

Excellent Snowshoes!

this men & women Atlas 11 snowshoes review by Kathy

We are new to snowshoeing, so we wanted good shoes to start with. Our first try was on rented shoes - they were fun but I knew we could do better. My husband and I both settled on Atlas snowshoes, and are very pleased with them. The binding are easy to fit and release. These proved to be very secure and stable in varying terrain. Thanks to Atlas and ORS for offering a great product.

All You Need

this men's Atlas 11 snowshoe review by TED V.

I've been snow shoeing for about 25 yrs. This is my first pair of Atlas snow shoes. I did a lot of research before I spent the money. This is all you need for deep, wet, heavy or powder shoeing. All the features of these snowshoes help in all terrain. Money well spent, "Cry once" a buddy told me when it came to buying gear.

Meets every challenge, snow condition, terrain, comfort

this men's Atlas 11 snowshoe review by David Jennings

Purchased the Atlas 11 snow shoes after web surfing many reviews. At 6', 183# the 30" model is perfect for me. Hiking on Mt.Rose's (Lake Tahoe) 9000ft. the terrain can go from beginner to advanced, snow conditions from trail; crusted snow; or fresh powder. The Atlas 11 has been secure and stable. Plus easy on, easy off. Very satisfied with the product.

Great Snowshoes!!!

this Atlas Elektra 11 snowshoe review by MJS

I just got these for myself a few weeks ago, and I am extremely happy with the purchase. After much research, I have no regrets. They are all they said they would be. I have been in deep powder and packed ice with no problems. The bindings are a breeze, even with gloves on. I have used many other brands in the past, these are by far the best!

Would Recommend to Anyone

this Atlas 11 review by Anthony

I just bought a pair of the Atlas 11 series snowshoes and they are terrific. I was sold on the spring loaded binding when I saw how much lateral movement it allows your foot so that it can find the perfect perch on uneven terrain and also how the snowshoe always stays under your foot when you are stepping over obstacles. The climbing heel lift bar is no gimmick either. Just hike up a long hill with it and then do the same hill without it and you will clearly see how much strain it reduces on your calf muscles. The bindings may look a bit complicated but they aren’t at all, quite the contrary in fact, and they are without a doubt the most comfortable bindings I’ve ever used. They just feel secure and supportive which is exactly what you want in a snowshoe binding, aside from ease of use. These are high tech, user friendly snowshoes that I would recommend to anyone for any purpose.

Exceptional Snow Shoes

this Atlas 11 / Elektra E11 review by Bob & Sandy

My wife and I are in our mid-60's and are quite active and are new to the sport of snow shoeing. We do a lot of hiking in the summer time, but when the winter comes it puts a crimp into our efforts. I thought snow shoes would allow us to continue hiking in the winter time, and add a new dimension to our hiking, snow shoes would allow us to go and do things that we could not ordinarily be able to do, so we thought this would be good for us. We didn't quite know what to expect. I did a lot of research to try and find the best shoes we could buy, and I found them. Atlas,Atlas,Atlas. We have been out on them twice since we received them, and we can't get enough of them. We our very excited with our purchase. The overall quality of the shoe is fantastic, and believe me I am a tough critic. I have read about other makers of snow shoes, where the snow builds up under the toe crampons, we didn't have any of those problems, the grip from the shoe was phenomenal, and we were walking in wet snow. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE BINDINGS, putting them on, adjusting them or taking them off is childs play. The bindings look like they will take the bigest boot down to a hiking shoe. When they are on your feet, the binding is padded so you don't even feel like you have them on, extremly comfortable, they become part of your foot. The heel binding would be easier to use if it had a ratchet arrangement, but the rubber lug and hole arrangement is positive and gets the job done, it only needs to be adjusted once to come in contact with your heel, I might add this strap does not have to be very tight, due to the exceptional way the binding grips your foot. Putting the shoes on your foot is a dream, open up the bindings, slide your foot in, place the ball of your foot over the rubber pad, and pull each of the two straps until tight. You can get the shoes as tight as you want them, the padding on the inside of the bindings cushions your foot so you don't feel any pressure. The bindings become a part of your foot, but without any pressure on it. If you need to make an adjustment to the snow shoe it takes just SECONDS to do and you are on your way. We have walked on ice, soft snow, and crusted snow, and we are impressed with the Atlas 11 and Elektra e11 snowshoes performance. I would highly reccomend the Atlas 11 snow shoes to anyone. My wife and I intend to have many years of enjoyment from them. We have since ordered some excessories to complement the shoe. Thanks Atlas and ORS Snowshoes Direct offering such great products.

Horrible, Please Read...

this Atlas Elektra 11 snowshoes review by Barbara

No! Don’t buy Atlas. Your backside will get FROZEN and it’s not only annoying, it’s dangerous. At first I thought it was the way I walked - how the shoes kicked snow up my backside; I tried walking different ways and still my legs, butt and back were pelted with snow all the same. So I went looking for answers and was shocked to find Atlas’ website claims it is part of their “unique design,” and that flipping snow up may stop when they are “broken in.” This is my second season in these shoes and they are still throwing snow. So, how is this dangerous? Because your body heat melts the snow and your clothes become wet and frigid – think hypothermia if you stop moving!

Excellent Shoes!!

this men & women Atlas 11 snowshoes review by MT Haas

I had never snowshoed before I bought these for Christmas presents. I bought a pair for my husband and a pair for myself. They were very light weight and was like walking normally. I thought I would have to walk with my legs really far apart, but I didn't. My husband, being in better shape then I, was running chasing our dog. I would recommend these to anyone!

All High Marks in My Book

Great binding. Great traction. Easy to get into and out of. Well designed heel strap that holds. Nice climbing bar. Rugged design. These get all high marks in my book.
