The 2012 MSR Women's Lightning Axis snowshoes represent 14 years of research and development at MSR Snowshoes and are the pinnacle of snowshoeing stride efficiency and ergonomic comfort. Along with 360° Traction frames and Pivot crampons that deliver biting, edge-to-edge grip with superb traction on any terrain & conditions, the women's Lightning Axis now features MSR’s proprietary Axis Gait Efficiency Technology - you can bilaterally adjust the angle of the bindings in relation to the frame up to 8° in either direction to compensate for your foot’s natural toe-in or toe-out variance. This results in perfectly parallel snowshoe alignment when striding. This revolutionary design accomplishes two important things: one, it prevents the edges of the frames from hitting mid-step and two, it enables a smoother, more efficient snowshoe stride.

A second innovation the MSR Lightning Axis women's snowshoes are outfitted with is the SpeedLock Binding system, which is MSR Snowshoes most efficient and comfortable binding to date. Once an initial “set it and forget it” adjustment is made to fit the wide, angled toe strap to your regular snowshoeing boots, all you ever need to do when using the snowshoes again is slide your foot in, twist your foot slightly to center, and tighten the heel strap. Your boot is now securely held in place. For additional security on very challenging and variable terrain, an optional included in-step strap can be attached.

Offers flotation tail compatibility. Simply attach the 5" MSR Lightning Flotation tails (sold separately; see accessories below) and gain dramatically increased traction and float when encountering deep snow conditions or carrying a sizeable backpack cargo load etc. The MSR Lightning Axis womens snow shoes also feature the integrated MSR Ergo Televator heel lifts, which greatly reduce fatigue on long climbs, and can be raised or lowered easily by using either the grip of your snowshoe poles or with your hand. All materials are waterproof, will not soak up any water, freeze, and turn heavy. Straps remain adjustable and easy to use in all conditions.

The MSR Women's Lightning Axis Snowshoe comes in two sizes - 22w & 25w. Using the sizing chart below, find your size based on your fully loaded weight - meaning your fully clothed body weight plus the gear weight of typical items you would carry in a backpack while snowshoeing for example. For additional flotation we recommend using a pair of the modular 5" Lightning flotation tails (not included; see accessories below) in deep snow conditions and/or carrying additional gear.
