This model is designed and biomechanically engineered specifically for the natural stride of women via the womens' MSR Lightning Flash frame which has a more narrow and tapered geometry, ideally facilitating a woman's stride.

The 2012 MSR Lightning Flash women's snowshoes are designed to bring all-condition traction on rolling terrain and maximum comfort for all day adventures by combining MSR Snowshoes proprietary lightweight and aggressive 360° Traction Frame with the very innovative and simple to use SpeedLock bindings system. The 360° Traction Frame bites into ice and snow to provide phenomenal traction on climbs, descents, and traverses, giving you the confidence to push your boundaries of winter exploration and recreational exercise & fun.
The MSR Women's Lightning Flash snowshoes are outfitted with the SpeedLock snowshoe bindings, taking binding technology to a new level of comfort and ease of use. Once an initial “set it and forget it” adjustment is made to fit the wide, angled toe strap to your regular snowshoeing boots, all you ever need to do when using the snowshoes again is slide your foot in, twist your foot slightly to center, and tighten the heel strap. Your boot is now securely held in place.
The MSR Lightning Flash womens' snow shoes also offer flotation tail compatibility. Simply attach the 5" MSR Lightning Flotation tails (sold separately; see accessories below) and gain dramatically increased traction and float when encountering deep snow conditions or carrying a sizeable backpack cargo load etc. All materials are waterproof, will not soak up any water, freeze, and turn heavy. Straps remain adjustable and easy to use in all conditions.

Using the sizing chart below, find your size based on your fully
loaded weight - meaning your fully clothed body weight plus the
gear weight of typical items you would carry in a backpack while
snowshoeing for example. For additional flotation we recommend using a pair of the modular 5" Lightning flotation
tails (not included; see accessories below) in deep snow conditions
and/or carrying additional gear.
