Comfortable, Secure Bindings, Great Traction
this TSL 325 Grip Explore review by snowshoerUK
The TSL 325 Grip Explore snow shoes are an upgrade from an older pair of Atlas 10 series I used happily for three years. I've also snowshoed with MSR Denalis. I snowshoe in backcountry and steep trail conditions. The 325s have superb traction (as their name suggests) when used on the medium powder, packed, and icy snow conditions on which I've hiked. They're not deep-powder sized shoes, and I wouldn't expect them to excel in that environment. As advertised, the grip is really first rate, and I was especially impressed on very steep uphills (the sort of steep for which one needs the toe crampon) and on very steep downhills. In both cases, it was possible to control one's movement extremely well. On icy snow, the serrated traction bars dug in well, but I haven't tried them on really slick open ice, so I can't speak to that. The bindings are the best I've used, easy to adjust on the fly with a simple ratcheting system, and they're very comfortable. I have two small complaints about the shoes. One is that the serrated bars are sufficiently thin that I bent a tooth, probably hitting a rock under shallow snow. They can be replaced, but I wonder about that component's durability. The second complaint is that the shoes are difficult to back up in. The very narrow tabs at the tail are very helpful for going downhill, but they dig in easily while going backwards. Overall, very satisfactory.
These Snowshoes Rock!
this TSL 325 Grip Explore review by Kyle
I just purchased a pair of the TSL Grip Explore snowshoes and they rock. The ratcheting bindings tighten down and stay tight, the heel lift is a great feature, and they have extraordinary traction. They are nice and light as well. I take them hiking and just tromping around. If you're looking for a pair of snowshoes that work great and aren't like every other pair out there, check these out.
I Highly Recommend These Snowshoes
this TSL 325 Grip Explore review by Kris Jansen
Great snowshoes. Bindings have ratcheting buckles that work great. No more fussing with nylon webbing or worse, leather straps. These are definitely non-traditional snowshoes but they work great and are basically indestructible. The climbing bar works great also. Flick it up when you are heading up and you will use way less muscle and will be less fatigued. Highly recommended snowshoes.
