Does It All, Great Value, Great Choice

Tested in spring Rocky Mountain snow packed / settled snow 6'-10' foot depth 230 lbs. on the size 36 Xpedition gave great float sank 2-3 inches on settled spring snow 30 " would be OK in these conditions for my weight but not in powder. Although 30" likely would have been better for my climbing test up a 60%-70% slope (hand straight out touching the snow while standing). I slipped out on the crampon due to too much float on the 36" on packed snow, careful kicking in got me up, but poles disappeared to the handle. Coming down required a traverse that was no problem excellent heel traction higher 19 Degree heel lift clicks in place works well, binding is great, easy to use size 12 boots fit no problem, up turned tail allows backing up/sliding 36" worked well in the timber, creek crossings, side hills, up down. Deck toe covers the boot toe well, very little snow gets onto the deck which sheds right off. If you want to climb very steep more than 60% go with the mountaineer for the bigger crampon. If you want 1 pair to do it all this is it. Overall I'm happy with my choice and with O.R.S. fast shipping a pleasure to deal with. Thanks.
